Based on certain self-portraits by other artists, I wanted to create a surreal painting, showing me inside the painting creating myself. I was able to use this concept in "Self Created Artist" to convey certain ideas about myself such as my work ethic, and the fact that I'm constantly changing and learning new techniques that shape my art. I also wanted it to show that I've always worked well with my hands. From my days working in carpentry, through to my work as an artist, it seems my hands (and what I've done with them) have shaped my life. I suppose this painting is an illustration of my life.
